Thor (Movie Review) residence

The mighty god of thunder returns in this third installment within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As he prepares to ascend to the throne of Asgard, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) lashes out in anger when the Frost Giants invade his kingdom in violation of their treaty. He reacts with brutality and his father Odin banishes him to Earth without his powers in punishment. After a stint on Earth and studying humility, grace, and selflessness through his love for scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Thor returns residence to search out he should fight for the individuals of Asgard and for his rightful place as king.

Thor's banishment from Asgard was a consequence of his conceitedness and overreaction to the Frost Giants in violation of their long-standing peace with the Asgardians. In addition to his personal mistakes, Loki's deceptions and nefarious schemes also contributed. Despite regaining his powers, Thor's reign is marred by infighting between him and Odin. The god of thunder is further threatened by the vengeful feminine frost giant Hela and his horde of feminine henchmen.

After Hela's dying, Thor's anger rises once once more and he takes on his brother. He is prepared to defeat Hela and her troopers but not before he is practically killed and stripped of his powers. The heavies Mjolnir and the tesseract are destroyed, but Thor survives and is rescued by the Guardians of the Galaxy -- Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Mantis and Rocket.

It's a fine if overly familiar fantasy journey. The movie is bolstered by a powerful solid, together with Hemsworth in top type and the always-reliable Portman as his love interest. Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston are strong as his dad and mom, and Stellan Skarsgard and Kat Dennings mine their characters for some depth. Rene Russo has a thankless position as Odin's wife Frigga but manages to lend her character some maternal glances and mother superior snarkiness.

Taika Waititi, who co-wrote and directed this installment, has a lot of enjoyable reworking the Norse mythology for contemporary audiences. However, the film veers into greeting card triteness in its themes of affection and sacrifice and harvests internet memes in its humor. It additionally suffers from some uneven pacing and a lack of urgency, especially within the action scenes. Kids will benefit from the action and humor, and adults will appreciate its deeper themes of humility and household..
